Passed away on October 1, 2014, after an extended illness, with his family at his bedside. He leaves his wife, Lorraine Rorke Bader, daughter, Linden Bader Rees (Bryan) and grandson Rorke James Rees, of San Francisco, and son Tony Neal Bader of Brooklyn. Lani was born December 11, 1932, in Honolulu, Hawaii, to Thelma Springer Bader and Oliver Jones Bader, who preceded him in death. He is a graduate of the Punahou School and the University of Hawaii. He earned his law degree at the University of Chicago in 1960, after which he had a long and productive career as a lawyer, professor and arbitrator. From 1960 to 1962, he was associated with Shearman and Sterling in New York; after that he practiced law in San Francisco with Pillsbury, Madison, and Sutro. In the late 60's, he started teaching at Golden Gate University Law School, and remained a professor there until several years ago. He served as the dean of the law school from 1970-1974. He also had an active arbitration practice with the American Arbitration Association, and was well regarded for his sense of justice, integrity, and keen intelligence.

Dear Lorraine, our love and spiritual support fly from Patagonia to all of you. You and Lani will be in our thoughts and prayers, especially tomorrow. It was a privilege to meet him at Linden and Bryan's beautiful wedding. I immediately knew he was a wonderful human being!!

Dear Lorraine, Hearing about Lani was a great shock. I remember fondly working with him during our senior year at GGU. A friend once said to me when he learned stage lighting, "When I was a photographer, I thought only God made light. When I learned stage lighting, I realized that people can make light too." Lani brought light into the minds, hearts and lives of colleagues and friends and thousands of students. Please accept my condolences.

Lorraine, Tony and Linden and family, On behalf of myself and my staff at the dental office, I extend our sincere condolences. It has been a pleasure and an honor to be the Bader Family Dentist over the years, and we will miss Lani's visits. He was a dear man. We worked on his smile, but he made us smile. RIP, Dr. Beverly Presley-Nelson

Dear Mrs. Bader and Family:

I first met Lani in 1984 when I was fresh out of college, working as a Case Administrator at the American Arbitration Association in San Francisco. I was so privileged to have gotten to know him as a business colleague, trusted advisor and true role model for what it meant to be a professional in the legal industry. I spent a total of 10 years at AAA, and I know I speak for all of us who knew him, worked with him, and laughed with him there, when I say how sad it is to hear of his passing, and how thankful I am that I had a chance to know him and learn from him. He touched many, many people through AAA, who all remember his thoughtfulness, professionalism, and hint of mischief. Thank you for sharing him with us, and deepest condolences.

What a coincidence: the new baby and then Lani goes. He put up a good fight. That darn polio! We love you all. Linden & Carl
