On Friday, August 22, 2014, at the age of eighty. Beloved husband of Ruth Hubner for fifty-four years. Devoted father and father-in- law of Libby Cohen and John Furuli, Barry Cohen, Leonard Cohen and Sharon Gulko. Adored Zaide of Synneva and Erika Cohen Furuli; Sarah and Max Cohen; Hannah and Lilah Cohen. Brother of Solly Cohen. Son of the late Max Cohen and the late Libby Goldberg, stepson of the late Esther Steinberg. Nephew of the late Ray Goldberg and the late Yetta Litinsky. Loving brother-in- law, cousin, uncle, and lifelong friend to many. A caring surgeon who provided compassion, wisdom, and humour to patients and co- workers at the Jewish General and St. Mary's Hospitals for forty-five years. A talented classical whistler whose unique performances brought joy to his audiences. A passionate history student, and history of medicine enthusiast. A kind, intelligent man who made a difference in everyone's lives. The family wishes to thank the staff and colleagues at the Jewish General Hospital, Maimonides Geriatric Centre, and Julius Richardson Hospital for their outstanding care. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Monday, August 25 at 2 p.m. Burial at the Tifereth Beth David Jerusalem Congregation Cemetery, Beth Yitzchok Section, de la Savane. Shiva at his home from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. daily.
