Jack Vaccaro Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 9, 2013.
Vaccaro, Jack Of Cudahy, died unexpectedly on Monday, March 4, 2013, at his vacation home in Sun City West, AZ. He was 75. His beloved wife of more than 50 years, Sharon (nee Hayden), was at his side, as she always was, at the time of his passing. Jack was the father of two sons, Michael (Theresa) and Daniel (Dawn); proud grandfather of Anna Maria, Cecelia, Dominic, Carson, and Catherine; brother of Jacquelyn Hinkle; and brother-in-law of Don Hinkle. Jack is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Jack was born April 23, 1937, in Cudahy, Wisconsin, where he remained a lifelong resident. After graduating from Cudahy High School in 1955 and Marquette University in 1959, Jack began his career as a teacher for the Milwaukee Public Schools. He taught math and business education for more than 13 years, primarily at Walker Junior High School on Milwaukee's south side. In 1966, with his life-long friend Fred Mueller of Bay View, Jack co-founded Jack Frederick's Hairdressers, a chain of 12 hair salons throughout Milwaukee County. After 40 years of business, Jack retired and began a third career in public service in Cudahy as the city's Economic Development Coordinator. He served on the Library Board and volunteered with many community organizations. Jack was named Business Person of the Year in 1998 by the Cudahy Chamber of Commerce. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Peoples Credit Union. Truly proud of his Italian heritage, Jack and his sister Jacquelyn, in honor of their parents Jasper and Josephine Vaccaro (nee Tomaro), also provided support to the establishment of Milwaukee's Italian Community Center. Jack enjoyed bowling, golf, fishing in International Falls, MN, Italian music, and working with his hands as an artist in clay in the sunshine of Arizona during the winter months. Most of all, Jack enjoyed spending time with family and friends celebrating life, while sipping a Brandy Manhattan and expressing strong opinions. He will be eternally remembered as a devoted husband, father, and friend; for being generous, honorable and always bringing out the best in others. Visitation will be 4 to 7 PM, Sunday, March 10, at the funeral home and Monday from 10 AM until Mass at 11 AM, at Nativity of the Lord Catholic Church, 3672 E. Plankinton Ave., Cudahy. Memorials to the Cudahy Historical Society or Cudahy charitable organization of your choosing. Entombment Holy Sepulcher Cemetery.

Dear Sharon and family,
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I always enjoyed seeing the two of you when you visited Michael and Teresa in Florida. He was a great grandfather, always made me laugh and could whip up some tasty sauces in the kitchen. I hope all of you are together celebrating Jack's wonderful life here on earth and his eternal life in heaven.

Our sympathies to Sharon and the entire family on your loss. We will all miss him!
Jack worked with me when I served as Mayor of Cudahy. He always wanted to see what was best for the community and always gave 110% effort to everything he did. Cudahy is a great community because of his efforts. I truly enjoyed our time working together and our talks afterwards.
Like many, I was surprised to receive the news of his passing. We all have lost a great person who will truly be missed.
Thank you for Jack for all the lives you have touched and the time you shared with all of us! You will truly be missed!

So very sorry to lose Jack. As a member of the Sun City West Noisy Neighbors bowling league, one would only strive to acquire his bowling skills. Jack's spaghetti dinners were marvelous! He was a good neighbor and friend.

Your LIGHT shines forever Jack!!

Our Heartfelt Condolances to all of Jack's Family & Friends. He will be forever remembered as the kind, caring and generous man he was. I had the great pleasure and fortune to have worked for Jack at his salon in downtown Milwaukee ... yet some of my best memories were of the celebrating outside of the salon in their most warm & inviting home for the Christmas holidays. The singing of carols and all the "cheers" provoded many a laugh and blessings for us all.

After moving out of state years ago, we continued to stay in touch with our yearly Christmas cards ... most recent one enclosed the beautiful picture of Jack & Sharon celebrating their 50th Anniversary ... of course I had to write back and tease him about knowing Dorian Gray as he was one man that seemed to hide his age well ...

May all of your many cherished memories bring you all much comfort and peace today and in the days ahead ... remember ...
Jack leaves a beautiful legacy through you ~ HIS FAMILY.

I will keep you all in my heart, thoughts and prayers.
Peace be with you all ...
Our Love & Blessings,
Dale, Peggy, & Dustan Windsor
