RINGWOOD — Funeral service for Jacob “Jake” John Jantzen will be Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at 10 a.m. at New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno, with Pastor James Suderman and Pastor Lyman Sprunger officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery with arrangements by Lanman Funeral Home, Inc., Helena. Viewing will be Tuesday from 10 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. with the family being present from 5:30-7:30 on Tuesday at the funeral home.Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.lanmanmemorials.com.Jake was born Nov. 13, 1921 in Nowata, Oklahoma to William Jennings Jantzen and Katherine Buller Jantzen and passed from this life on Friday, July 25, 2008 at his home. He graduated from Oklahoma Bible Academy in 1940. Jake then spent time in Hollywood, California, parking cars for movie stars. He and Adalia M. Leis were married by Rev. George Orlowsky at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Okeene, Oklahoma on Aug. 13, 1944.Jake was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served June 27, 1945 through Nov. 7, 1946 as an automotive mechanic tech sergeant, training at Fort Belvoir, Virginia. His commendations include World War II Victory Ribbon, Sharp Shooter’s Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Jake and Adalia lived in Petersburg, Virginia and Alexandria, Virginia while he served during World War II. After an honorable discharge in 1946 they returned home to Okeene and both went to work for Henry Boeckman. Jake started a milk route for Swift and Company, which he then sold after moving east of Ringwood. He farmed in the Ringwood and Okeene area until retirement in 1980. Between the years of 1948 through 1962 Jake and his three brothers custom harvested. They built their current home in 1962. Jake also worked at State Guaranty Bank in Okeene in 1981.Jacob was well known for witching water wells. The last water well he witched was July 2, 2008 for his granddaughter and her husband, Brandi and Jay Reynolds’ future home in Edmond. Jacob loved horses and spending time with his family. During his last days at home with his family he enjoyed spending time outside, petting Jessica’s horse.He was a member of New Hopedale Mennonite Church, Meno, OK, former board member of Oklahoma Association of Electric Cooperatives, Inc., and former member of Alfalfa Electric Cooperative Board (15 years) with Meritorious Service Award in 1995, former member of Major County Excise and Equalization Board (22 years), former Major County Emergency Medical Board Member, former Major County G.O. Bond Board Member and Honorary FFA Chapter Member and Ringwood School Board (25 years).Jake is survived by his wife, Adalia M. Jantzen of the home; son, Jerry Jantzen and his wife Sandy of Deer Creek; daughter, Katherine Osborne of Oklahoma City; son, Terry Jantzen and wife Cathy of Las Vegas, New Mexico; son, Larry Jantzen and wife Audrey of Ringwood; brother, Arnold Jantzen and sister Pearl Jantzen Unruh; grandchildren: Jerry’s sons, Kyle Jantzen and wife Lisa and Trent Jantzen; Kathy’s daughters, Brandi Reynolds and husband Jay and Cindi Horton and husband Kyle; Terry’s daughter, Tonya Jantzen; Larry’s daughters, Jessica Jantzen and Braznee Jantzen; great grandchildren, Kaylee Raine and Chase Jacob Jantzen, Julia Lee Jantzen, Thomas Jay and Joshua Paul Reynolds, Ethan Kyle and Max Jantzen Horton; and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lloyd and Earl Jantzen; one sister, Edna Jantzen Eck and son-in-law John Osborne.Memorials may be given to the church through the funeral home.(Paid Obit 7-29-1)
