JACOB SIMPER Obituary
Jacob was a superhero, not unlike Spiderman, only better. He loved sports and enjoyed a game of "catch" with his dad and older brother Luke. He loved to run and accepted all challengers in a foot-race, though he ran as fast as his little legs would carry him, he didn't often win, but he'd race again and try to win just the same, because he was a superhero. Jacob slept in his own room, but most mornings he would be found in his older brother's bedroom asleep in his bed, probably because his superhero senses told him to crawl in with his brother to protect him from the night. Jacob liked to wrestle in the house with his dad and brother Luke, but Jacob let them win, he was a superhero. Jacob had a heart warming smile made brighter still with sparkling blue eyes and an abundance of personality, all traits of a proper superhero. Jacob adored his older brother, seldom leaving his side and sharing and playing throughout each day and protecting him with superhero talents whenever necessary. But even Jacob, with all his many gifts and greatness was humbled from his mother's love; he knew of all things, he was his momma's boy first.
Jacob is survived by his mom and dad, Joanna and Cody Simper of Houston; his best friend and brother, Luke Ryan Simper, all of Houston; grandparents, Donna Lynn Simper, Michael and Sherry Simper, all of Gonzales, Rebecca Ellen and Mitchell P. Engle of Mt. Vernon; great-grandparents, Bea and Clarence Bohuslav of Moulton, Margie and Willie Simper of Gonzales, and Marjorie Roscoe of Corpus Christi; and numerous adoring aunts, uncles and cousins.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today in Seydler-Hill Funeral Home with a Mass of the Angels at 10 a.m. Friday May 4, 2010 in St. James Catholic Church with Father Paul Raaz officiating. Interment will follow in St. James Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers: Roland Gonzalez, Oscar Lujan, Bobby Avant and Brian Lookabill.
Memorials may be made to the Jacob Michael Simper Memorial Fund in care of his family.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.
Superhero services are under the direction of Seydler-Hill Funeral Home.

Cody, Joanna and Luke, your in my thoughts and prayers. I only knew Jacob for a slight time through baseball but I always saw him running around with a smile on his face and always full of joy. The Triune God will always be a mystery, but His love cannot be questioned. The Father created man out of love. The Son died for man out of love and the Holy Spirit shows us how to use the spiritual graces of “their love”. From that love came mom and dad and Luke and then Jacob. They became one and at that moment of conception God's love created Jacob Michael’s spiritual being that allowed the miracle of Jacob’s birth.
Jacob's time with mom, dad and all those that reached out to embrace the essence of his being on this earth was short, but again the love cannot be questioned. For because of Jacob this day and for as long as the memory of him endures, the greatest commandment of Jesus will ring out as loud as the Church bells throughout the world, "Love one another as I have loved you".
