Jacqueline Simpson-Young Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jul. 11, 2022.
Jacqueline Mae Simpson-Young of Norristown, PA went home to be with the Lord on Monday July 11, 2022. She was born on August 27, 1950 in Oxford, Saint Mary, Jamaica. She was the daughter of the late Clarence and Alma (Green) Simpson, and the beloved wife of Glenn Young, with whom she spent 33 years of marriage. Jacqueline, also known as Jackie, migrated to the U.S. in the early seventies. She worked at Riverview Nursing Home and at Sacred Heart Hospital both located in Norristown, PA, as a Nurse's Aide. Her next endeavor was at Suburban General Hospital in Norristown -where she was an Operating Room Secretary. Her next position in Suburban was a Buyer for the hospital, and then she became Manager over the Purchasing Department. Jacqueline retired from Mercy Suburban Hospital -under Trinity Health Systems in Newtown Square, PA. She attended Norristown Church of God (NCOG) under the leadership of the late Bishop Isaac Brunson and First Lady Rebecca Brunson. After Bishop Brunson was transferred to Seaford, DE, she was under the leadership of the late Bishop Ernest Page, Jr. and First Lady Mabel Page. She was a member of the NCOG Community Choir, and shared her melodious voice in the soprano section. Additionally, she was the President of the Community Choir. Jacqueline was also voted as Choir Mother for the NCOG Junior Choir on multiple occasions. Jacqueline became a member at West End New Testament Church of God (West End) located in Norristown, and eventually transferred her membership to 20th Street New Testament Church of God in Philadelphia, PA under the leadership of Bishop Audley Thompson and First Lady Phyllis Thompson. In 2021, she returned back to West End under the leadership of Minister Denver Shaw. While at West End, Jacqueline was head of the Youth Department, Church Secretary and Treasurer, Choir Director, and occasionally would moderate services. Jacqueline was truly dedicated to serving God anyway possible. Though strict in her standards and ethics, her heart was full of love, and she would give her last of anything if one was in need. In addition to her husband, Jacqueline is survived by her cherished daughter Claudia Ryan of Audubon, PA; her six siblings: Kenneth Simpson of Fort Lauderdale, FL; Dena Kelsey of Norristown, PA; Claudette Ramsaroop of East Norriton, PA; Wendell Simpson of Houston, TX; Selwyn Simpson of West Norriton, PA, Josett Simpson of Norristown, PA, Everton Simpson of Ocho Rios, JA, Marcia Simpson of Mt. Vernon, NY, and Claudette Simpson of Miami, FL; two brothers-in-law: Calvin Kelsey and Delroy Ramsaroop, Sr.; three sisters-in-law: Claudette Simpson, Icilda Simpson, and Sue Simpson; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. Although our beloved Jackie is no longer here on Earth, let us challenge ourselves to live an obedient life to Christ, so we will have another opportunity to see her, again. Relatives and friends are invited to Jackie's Home Going Celebration on Wednesday July 27, at 11 AM at Power in the Cross Church, 506 Haws Ave. Norristown. Calling hours will be from 9 AM to 10:45 AM at the church. Interment will be at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens in King of Prussia. Family services are by Boyd-Horrox-Givnish of East Norriton, 610-277-7000.

We were so very saddened to hear of Jackie's passing. Though we had not seen Jackie for many years we will always cherish the person she was and what she stood for. We shared so many wonderful memories from our Suburban General days. Too many to even try to recount. Our deepest sympathies to the family. May her Memory Be Eternal.
