James Allen Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 29, 2025.
James Michael Allen (Jimmy) of Yuma, AZ passed away in his home early Saturday March 22, 2025 after a long 8 year battle with Alzheimer's. Jimmy was a lifelong resident of Yuma, being born in Parkview Baptist Hospital on January 13th, 1962. Jimmy was the last of 4 children born to Arthur and Mary Allen.

Graduating a Criminal from Yuma High in 1980 Jimmy left Yuma briefly to attend college at the University of Arizona, where he met the love of his life, Susan. Susan and Jimmy married, residing in Tucson area until 1987, when they moved back to Yuma, where they raised all 3 of their children.

Jimmy upon returning to Yuma, leaned heavily into his community with Boy Scouts of America and the Jaycees. He became involved in assisting and later leading the same Boy Scout troop he himself was a member of in his youth. His service in the Jaycees ran the full spectrum from member, Chapter officer positions including President, as well as being active within the Silver Spur Rodeo to include the Rodeo chairmanship in 2009. His hobbies of ham radio operations made several community connections for Jimmy and family. As his children aged, they shared his love for community involved activities, which dragged Jimmy to be a "community dad" for many Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, Jr Jaycees, 4H and FFA kids a like.

Jimmy was dedicated to his community and his family, always had a kind word and a story, often accompanied by some of the world's corniest dad/ husband jokes for everyone who knew him. He will be greatly missed by all the loved ones he has left behind.

Jimmy was preceded in death by both his parents, Mary and Arthur Allen, his in laws, Richard and Claire Toth.

Jimmy is survived by his loving and dedicated wife Susan; his siblings Art Allen, Don Allen, and Peggy Pittman; his children Trish, Aaron (McCurdy), Jessica, Scott (Kearns), Matthew; his grandbabies Dustin (McCurdy), Matthew (McCurdy), Elizabeth (McCurdy), and Ivy (Kearns); his many nieces and nephews; and his community bonus family members which are too numberous to list but will always have a cherished part of the Allen family.

Jimmy will always be loved and missed by me and my family. We met him through the Scouting program. He and Susan gave us help with Cub PAC 19 at the American League Post #19. He was talked into joining the SAL by my husband and joined us in bingo kitchens. Rest in peace my dear friend.
