James Arlen Hiltz, Sr.

Lexington - Say not in grief he is no more - but live in thankfulness that he was.

James Arlen Hiltz, Sr., 87, of Lexington, SC, formerly of Beaver and New Brighton, PA, passed into the hands of our Lord on August 15, 2023. Jim or Jimmy, as he was affectionately known, was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was born on June 3, 1936, to the late John and Helen Hiltz. After proudly serving his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War, Jimmy returned home and married his sweetheart, Christine (Dietz) Hiltz, on November 23, 1957. Jim retired from the Tin Mill at J & L Steel where he worked for over 40 years. During his years in New Brighton, Jim coached youth baseball and football. Golf was Jim's passion or should we say obsession, and boy what an awesome golfer he was. So it was only fitting that after retirement, he became a starter at Blackhawk Golf Course. Jimmy made many long lasting friendships at Blackhawk that he cherished always.

James was proceeded in death by his in-laws, Michael and Elizabeth Dietz, son-in-law, Michael Nevill and brother-in-law Donald Petcovic.

Surviving James are his loving wife Christine Hiltz, their children, Tina Harry, Holland Patent, NY, Janis (Thomas) Preston, Lexington, SC, Dr. James (Nicole) Hiltz, Hummelstown, PA, Scott (Laurie) Hiltz, New Brighton, PA. Grandchildren, Shaun and Robert Harry, Melissa Preston, Jonathan (Alayna) Hiltz, Jamie (Joe) Scherer, Cameron (Amanda) Hiltz, Jessica (fianc?e Eric Bieniek) Hiltz, Kelsey (Kevin) McCurdy, Michael Hiltz, and Matty, Nate and Cami Patterson. Great Grandchildren, Bryson, Alaina, Cassidy, Taylor, Austin, Bella, Liam, Quinn, Josephine, Sophia, Mila, Emma, Jackson and Olive.

Also surviving are his brother, Richard (Judy) Hiltz, Sr., his sons, Rick (Julie) Hiltz, Jr., Doug (Melissa) Hiltz, and Brad (Deanna) Hiltz, Sister-in-law's Joanne Petcovic, Rose Lynne Dunkerly, brother-in-law, Warren (Linda) Dietz, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Hiltz was a long time member of Saints Peter and Paul Church, Beaver, PA, before moving to Lexington. As per our father's wishes, we are bringing him home. Mass and internment will be private at Beaver Cemetery and Mausoleum.
