West Monroe - Funeral services for James Monroe Jones, Jr will be held at 10:00 am, Wednesday, February 6, 2019 at Apostolic Restoration Church (Living Way) in West Monroe. Rev. David Mckeithen officiating. Interment will follow at Serenity Gardens in Calhoun, LA. Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm Tuesday, February 5, 2019 at Griffin Funeral Home, 911 Warren Dr West Monroe.

James was born September 17, 1929 in West Monroe, LA, and passed from this life February 2, 2019 in Winnsboro, LA, at the age of 89. In a world where heroes come and go, God just took the only one we know. James proudly served his country and was honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1951. After 30 Years of service with Western Electric he retired as Area Supervisor. He was also a member of the Tensas Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his son Danny Lyn Jones of Dallas, TX, and two brothers Ralph Jones of West Monroe and Arlice Jones, sister-in-law Freddie Jones and brother-in-law Oliver Vallery. Those left to cherish his memory include three sons Ricky Monroe Jones and wife Gloria of St. Joseph, LA; James Mark Jones and wife Heather of Parker, CO, Chuck Jaubert and wife Joyce of Claremore, OK; one daughter Becky Hicks and husband Henry of Jonesboro, AR; three sisters Laweese Vallery of West Monroe, Avice Franks and husband Alsey of West Monroe, Pat Spurgeon and husband JW of West Monroe; four brothers Marlin Jones and wife Sue of West Monroe, Alvin Jones and wife Ivah of Downsville, and Garland Jones and wife Betty of West Monroe, Larry Jones and Wife Melba of Calhoun, LA; eleven beloved grandchildren, Jeremy Tinnerello and wife Nikki of West Monroe, Mary Beth Erwin and husband Brent of Winnsboro, Kayla Punchard of Winnsboro, Ricky Lyn Jones and wife Ashley of St. Joseph, Devin Jones, Ethan Jones, and Jordan Jones all of Parker, CO, Stacie Collins and husband Greg of Livingston, LA, Nikki Lambert and husband Jeff of Wynne, AR, Brittany West and husband Mark of Olathe, KS, and Shaun Jaubert of Claremore, OK; and twelve beloved great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends. The family would like to give special thanks to the loving caring staff of Plantation Manor in Winnsboro, LA and Glenwood Regional Medical Center ICU for unsurpassed care during his time of illness. A very special thanks goes to Joseph Deshotel for his many years of loving support of us all.
