James Kirsch Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 2, 2018.
James "Jim" Ronald Kirsch, 72, of Ireland, W.Va., passed away at 8:08 p.m. on Sunday, September 23, 2018, in the comfort of his own home.

He was born in Pennsylvania, on June 19, 1946, a son of the late John Robert Kirsch and Jennie Nancy Laskowski Kirsch.

On May 2, 2018, he and the love of his life, Janice Marie Forinash Kirsch, celebrated 48 wonderful years of marriage.

In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by five brothers: Donald Kirsch and wife, Doris, of Erie, Pa., Joseph Kirsch and wife, Helen, of Erie, Pa., William Kirsch and wife, Linda, of Pittsburgh, Pa., Richard Kirsch and wife, Linda, of Arcadia, Fla., and Melvin Kirsch and wife, Linda, of Phoenix, Ariz.; two sisters-in-law: Mabel Thompson of Canton, Ohio and Janet Ruland of Saegertown, Pa.; two brothers-in-law: Delmar Forinash of Albion, Pa. and Dennis Forinash of Cambridge Springs, Pa.; several nieces and nephews; many close friends, including: Carl Watson and wife, Rita (and their family), and Keith Boggs both of Ireland, W.Va.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, John Kirsch.

Jim graduated from Rice Avenue Union High School in 1965. He then joined the United States Army and retired on June 19, 2006, with 26 years of service. While living in Arizona, he worked at a nursing home until he became injured.

You could often find Jim reading or gardening. If you stopped by to visit, you had better have the time to spare for a good story. He and Janice loved to collect antiques and travel. They were even "snow birds" and would travel to Florida during the harsh northern winters. Jim was always someone you could count on to give good advice, and will be greatly missed by many.

Family and friends will gather at the Clutter Funeral Home-Alkire Chapel, located at 190 Wildcat Rd., in Ireland, W.Va., from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Funeral services will follow from the Alkire Chapel with Father Joseph McLaughlin officiating. Interment will follow in the Kincaid Cemetery on Buttermilk Rd., in Ireland, with full military honors accorded by the United States Army.

We, at Clutter Funeral Home-Alkire Chapel, appreciate the service and sacrifice of James "Jim" Ronald Kirsch and we're honored and privileged to serve his family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.Tomblyn-ClutterFuneral.com.

Our sincerest condolences are sent to Jimmie's family. We visited Aunt Nancy and Uncle Bob with my parents, Gladys and Jack Bava. Jimmie was always smiling.

So sorry for your family's loss. I never knew most of my Kirsch relatives. My Father was Robert Charles Kirsch of Erie, son of Donatus and Florence ( Reed) Kirsch. Although I grew up in Erie till age 11 before moving to Calif with my Mother Violet and brother Ronald Kirsch. I do go back to Erie from time to time to visit my half sisters Florence Zdunski. I am sad I never met my Great Grandparents or Uncles and Aunts. I pray you rest in peace James.

So sad to hear about Jim. My deepest sympathy to his family. Jim and I served together in the Army, as a matter of fact we road the same bus to Basic Training from Erie to Ft Knox, Ky,. Served in the same Basic Training outfit, C 18 5, and attended the same Advanced Infantry Training at Ft Knox. We also shared the same First Sergeant for numerous years, 1SG Al Yezzi, a great man who taught us so much about life and how to stay alive. He was a good man and we were together thru good and bad times. Actually both of us had Christmas leave at the same time but couldn't get the same plane home. We both decided the stay in and I ended with 30 years of service and officially retired also in 2006. Fond memories of our trials and laughter. WE always laughed since I outranked him by 4 months. Rest my brother for we will see each other again.
