James Kuchler Obituary
Sun City, AZ - Major James (Jim) Michael Kuchler, United States Air Force retired, 74, of Sun City, AZ, passed away November 23, 2017. He was born January 21, 1943 in Indianapolis, IN to Cuthbert (Bert) and Ava Kuchler.
Jim graduated from Cathedral High School and Marian University, and he earned a Doctor of Education from the University of Massachusetts Lowell. He served in the U.S. Air Force for 21 years.
Jim and his wife Laura moved to Sun City from Chelmsford, MA in 1999. He was a member of the Recreation Centers of Sun City (RCSC) board of directors for four years serving as secretary, treasurer, and president and was acting general manager for six months.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents and his younger brother Richard; he is survived by his wife, Laura Schaefer Kuchler, and sons, Michael and Ryan (Commander, United States Navy retired). Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Clement of Rome Catholic Church, 15800 N. Del Webb Blvd., Sun City, AZ 85351 on Monday, December 4 at 10AM. He will be laid to rest in the Garden of Valor at Sunland Memorial Cemetery.

Dear Laura and family,
We have such wonderful memories of Jim from our time with him at Marian. He was a true gentleman and a wonderful friend.
We felt so fortunate to be able to spend some time with both of you at our Marian 50th Class Reunion. We still remember the moment we realized you both were there, and when we had that first moment of recognition at the very same time, he got a great big grin on his face and immediately rushed over to greet us. That alone made it worth attending the reunion!
Some of my St. Agnes friends had known Jim for a very long time, so we had that connection also.
We are so thankful that you had the chance to meet each other at Marian, as did we, fall in love and get married. It was such a solid foundation to build your life upon.
We send our most sincere sympathy. Our thoughts and prayers are with you, and we will carry memories of Jim in our minds and hearts always.
Sorrow is not forever. Love is.
We have found this simple phrase to be most comforting to us as the years have passed by.

Dear Ryan, I'm deeply sorry for your and family's loss. Over the years, I've enjoyed hearing about so many things that you and your Dad have done together, collected together, and talked about. Clearly, they were special times and he was a special man.
