James Laumakis Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 2, 2024.
James (Jim/Lucky) Laumakis

It is with great sadness and heavy hearts, that we share, on Friday January 12, 2024, Jim passed away peacefully in his home. He is survived by the love of his life, his beautiful wife, Geraldine (Geri), who, along with his grandson and granddaughter in law, Justin and Airy Laudadio, were there by his side. He will be so deeply missed by his daughters, Kim (Dave) Donlon, Barbara (Steve) Iarossi Afflerbach, Karen Perna, Maryann Hall, stepdaughter Kimberly Laudadio, along with 7 additional grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren and brothers Jack and Jerry.

When Jim retired from Pepsi in Philadelphia, he and Geri moved to Florida, where they were able to be closer to sister and brother-in-law Jay and Charlotte Foreman. He then spent his days by his pool, loving the weather and the surroundings, music, watching his Philly sports teams and enjoying Geri's cooking.

If you knew Jim, you knew his huge radiant smile, kind heart, positive attitude, laughed at his jokes and stories he would share. His beautiful soul and loving kindness will live on in his family's memories. Celebration Of Jim's Life will be held at a later date and time, with details to follow.

It's hard to believe it's already been a year. It isn't enough to say that Jim was *like* a father to me, he truly *was* one. I don't know where I would be without his love, kindness, wisdom, and friendship. I have no siblings; when I wanted to play sports or video games growing up, he was there. When I missed the bus in the morning and needed a ride to school, he was there. You would never know I wasn't his own son. He was the most wonderful, kindest man I ever have or probably ever will have the privilege of knowing, and I count myself "Lucky" (many of you will get this reference) to have been his grandson.
Rest easy, Pop. I hope you're out there somewhere cheering on our Eagles. I love you.

Jim was a best friend and brother in law for over 50 years. We shared a lifetime of fun together and I always enjoyed making him laugh which he did with his movie-star smile. Jim was a great pal of mine who could never be replaced. I loved him dearly. May his memory be a blessing.

Barbara, Kim, Maryanne, Karen, and families, I'm so sorry for your loss. Uncle Jim was always fun to be around and he'll be missed.
I remember when he bought the Trans-Am and we thought he was the coolest uncle ever!
