James C. McGoldrick

James C. McGoldrick, 80, passed away peacefully on November 28th surrounded by family members and loved ones. Jim, as he was more commonly known was born in Philadelphia to the late Francis J. McGoldrick and the late Catherine McGoldrick (Crane).
Jim was born and raised in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of Philadelphia, along with his siblings Frank, John and Mary Lou. His primary years were spent attending Holy Cross Parish School, where he formed many meaningful life-long relationships. In most recent years lunch and events shared with those friends were something he looked forward to and provided him great enjoyment. After high school Jim went on to follow in his father’s footsteps in the family plumbing business, and upon earning his master plumber’s license, he was the youngest listed Master Plumber in the city of Philadelphia. That achievement was a great source of pride for him, as he was dedicated to his trade and family business for nearly 60 years!
After a courtship of a couple of years Jim married his wife Rinda, who he often shared was the love of his life in 1970. Soon after they were married, they began a family. If you had the pleasure to know Jim then you know his greatest enjoyment in life was as father to his three children Jim, Marcie and Mark. He was a constant presence for his children, and a volunteer coach in the Oreland-Wyndmoor Little League where coached and mentored kids for 17 years.
In 2002 Jim welcomed a second daughter into his family when Jim married Susan, who he loved and adored as if she was his own. That bond was strengthened further when he was blessed with two grandchildren, Molly and Jace. They were the world to him. Always a volunteer to babysit, sleepovers with Mom-Mom and Pop-Pop, vacations together in Ocean City, and making breakfast for the family every Christmas morning. As the kids got older, he looked forward to regular weekend visits at his house to get caught up on all the kid’s activities.
Jim loved people and always wanted to get to know them. He would always ask people he just met where they lived, who their parents were, how their family was, and where they went to school. Jim was great at building relationships and creating friendships wherever he went. He touched so many lives in a positive way and will be dearly missed by his family and friends. There is a visitation on Thursday December 2nd from 7-9 PM at North Hills Country Club in Glenside followed by a Funeral Mass Friday December 3rd at St. Genevieve Parish in Flourtown.
