James Powell Obituary
Of Encino born August 3, 1913, died August 3, 2003. James is survived by his wife, Beatrice of 62 years; his children Gail Glikmann (Alex), Bruce (Debby), Zach (Jill) Powell, and Alan (Johanna) Pollachek, 12 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild. James served in the U.S. Marine Corps. and saw action in WWII at Guadalcanal. From 1948-1978 he operated Jim Powell's Union Service Station in Sherman Oaks. Bea and Jim were among early pioneers of Jewish life in the Valley at Temple Beth Hillel, ORT and Brandeis-Bardin. James leaves a legacy of honesty in business, community and national service and the love of all who knew him. In lieu of flowers, please send contributions to New Community Jewish High School 22622 Vanowen St. West Hills, CA 91307, or ORT, Encino-Tarzana.
