James Vincent Tobin

July 16, 1965 - October 1, 2022

It is with overwhelming sorrow that we announce the passing of James Vincent Tobin (AKA Jim, Jimmy, Dad, Daddy, Papa, Uncle J) on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at the age of 57.

Jim was not a man of many words, but he definitely left his "mark" on everyone who knew him and his sarcasm! I'll try my best to express the man, my soulmate, I knew, loved and so adored. He was a protector, a best friend, and a truly amazing man. He almost always had to have the last word, which left you speechless and laughing so hard it hurt! The proverbial "Shut Up Stupid", "Don't be a waterhead", and his jovial "S'UP", brought a smile to all. He was a loyal friend with the ability to charm the hearts of everyone he met which left no doubt of the very special man he was. This sentimental "tough" guy will be forever in our hearts. Jim will be missed by many, especially his only brother John and family which he had recently moved to be closer to.

In our last 16 years together (13 married), we spent most of our free time at our favorite place, the HOB Tavern. Jim created so many relationships with the residents of Bordentown and serviced many of their boats, his certification as Master Marine Technician led to a business opportunity for him, Extreme Mobile Marine. Jim's all time favorite hobby was riding his Harley Street Glide, be it alone or with fellow riders, it brought him such a sense of freedom to be out on the road!

Jim was a twenty-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, a career he absolutely loved. He retired as an Engineman First Class on October 3, 2003, with his last Command being SEAL TEAM 5, Coronado, CA. He received multiple awards, ribbons, and letters of commendation, including 3 Navy Achievement Medals throughout his military career.

Jim is predeceased by; his father, John V. Tobin, maternal grandparents, Thomas and Elizabeth Murphy and Paternal grandparents John P and Betty "Sweetheart" Tobin.

He is survived by his loving wife of 13 years, Charlene Hurley, his mother, Carol Tobin, his brother John Tobin (Claudia), his sister Lori Tobin, his sister Rachel Smith (David), his daughter Antonella (Kevin) and his granddaughter, Ireland who was the apple of his eye! Jim is also survived by his step son, Adam and his loving mother and father-in-law (Cathy and Larry Braasch) and sister-in-law Debbie Hoy. He is also survived by his nephews JC Tobin and Ryan Drohan, his nieces Jessica Fremming and Vanessa Reed.

Jim is also survived by so many wonderful friends and family members, and his best friend Max. He will be forever in the hearts of many.

An Honorable Naval Burial will take place on Wednesday, October 19, 2022 at 2:30 pm at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, 350 Province Line Road, Wrightstown, NJ 08562. Following the burial, we hope you can join us in a Celebration of Jim's life at the Bordentown Elks, 11 Amboy Rd, Fieldsboro, NJ 08505.

Truly saddened to hear of JIm's passing. He was the only mechanic i'd ever let work on my outboard. Was looking for his new contact info and came across this awful news. He was incredibly talented and patient.

Jim was a great friend and shipmate! We served together in the Philippines, aboard the U.S.S. Tomaqua YTB 797. He and I were both Engineman.
Rest in peace Jim, we have the watch!

Char- I am at a loss of words and still can't believe. I will forever miss the dailey SUP when I would pull into the marina, or when he came to my shop to help me out with something. He sure had a way about him, used to love wondering what was Jimmy going to say or do next. He always had my back and would do anything for me.
Everyone at Mad Masons will miss him dearly.

Char. My heart breaks for you. My vivid memory of Jim playing with Brielle at your house. Chasing after her and she would giggle and giggle at him. He had such a kind heart and a beautiful soul. He will be missed by so many people. Cherish your memories and remember his love. I am here if you need anything.
