My oldest brother, Jim died this morning. He was 8 years older and I always looked up to him. Jim was not well the 2nd half of his life and he fought it off with intensity and lived life with intensity. He is a special person.

This morning at 12:50 am our beloved husband, father and grandfather, Jim, went to be with the Lord. Earlier this week he was diagnosed with Stage 4 liver cancer with no options for treatment. Thursday afternoon he went into JA Wedum hospice facility in Brooklyn Park where they took phenomenal care of both him and our family. By Friday morning his condition had deteriorated rapidly. Before his passing he was visited by family including all of his grandsons whom he adored.

Today we say goodbye to a my father- in-law, Jim. He was a wonderful man whose love of the Lord shined brightly in all that he did. There are so many great memories and characteristics to describe him but I'll always remember him for his love for his family and obedience to Jesus. He loved his family deeply and graciously welcomed me into his family almost 10 years ago. His unwavering love of our Lord helped shape my husband and son into the wonderful men of God they are today. And for that, I am so grateful. We love you, Jim. You will be greatly missed.

It is difficult to put into words all that a person meant to someone, we were married for 48 years. I learned many things from Jim, from buying a. house in a town with a Dairy Queen, and make sure if faced south to trusting God in all things.
Jim was born and raised in Mountain Lake Mn, the second of 5 children of Maria and Rueben Wiens, in the Mennonite Faith.
I met Jim on a blind date in Sept 1968, we were engaged in April 1969 and married 10/11/1969. He had such smiling eyes and a beautiful smile. He really loved people and was interested in what was going on with them.
Although the last 30 years of his life brought many physical difficulties and challenges, he did not feel sorry for himself, pity parties not allowed! He did not want to be remembered for a physical ailment or surgery but that God brought him through. He adhered to do not give up, go forward with God, you can do it with God 's grace and strength and mercy. Coming out of 10 hours of liver transplant surgery his words to Scott and Brian was how they were doing! Jim's desire in life was to be obedient to the Lord. Although limited in strength for many years he used that time to pray and intercede for others, family, friends, our nation.
He had a funny sense of humor too. He endured a great deal of pain, while in the ER waiting to get an IV started to get some pain medication administered, the nurse had trouble getting the IV started. He advised the nurse to use the other arm as it was a good vein, the nurse tried and it went in easily, he said that's a good vein. Jim said Yes, its won many awards! The nurse left the room with a smile on his face!
One of Jim's greatest joys was to raise his sons to be Spiritual men, good husbands, and fathers, and to watch his 4 grandsons grow up.
He trusted God for here on earth for healing but on 10/6 he said he would like to go home to heaven. He fought hard to get well, to be obedient to the Lord, and God took him home on 10/21/17. It was a privilege to know him and see his great faith!

When I hear the term," he was a good man", I think of Jim.
I knew Jim since he married my sister,Judy.
Whenever I met or talked to Jim, I always came away with good feeling.
No matter what was going on in his life Jim was always positive and upbeat.
It was a pleasure to know Jim and I do miss him, I cherish my memories of Jim.
He was a good Man !

I loved Uncle Jim, didn't see him much since a child, but told my Mom recently I felt such love from him, from his eyes towards me as a child. I remember his warm presence, you just felt better in his presence. My feeling, truly, is a man that loved, and you felt it. He had the love of Christ in him. What a wonderful expression of salvation, and Jesus. God bless you all, I know the loss is hard. But that is one man that is in the Lords presence now. I will always have my fond feelings of his wonderful presence in my life. If we all could be half the spiritual man he was, this world would be a wonderful place. Love you Uncle Jim, God Bless.
