GILMER -- Graveside services for James "Leo" Williams, 88, of Longview, formerly of Gilmer, will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, November 15, 2005, at Gilmer City Cemetery, with Larry W. Osborne and Lance Eiland officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer. Mr. Williams passed away Sunday, November 13, 2005, at his residence. Leo was born September 1, 1917, in Conroe, Arkansas, to J.D. and Emma Williams. He served as district clerk in Upshur County for 12 years. Mr. Williams was a Mason and a Shriner. He served during World War II in the U.S. Navy and was a survivor of the attack at Pearl Harbor. Mr. Williams was preceded in death by his wife, Helen Williams; brothers, Spurgeon T. and Harry Williams; and a sister, Mildred Swan. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Cheryl Williams of Royse City, Texas; a granddaughter, Angie, and her mother, Denise, of Longview; sisters-in-law, Mary and Jackie Williams of Longview; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Monday, November 14, 2005, at Grubbs-Loyd Funeral Home in Gilmer.
