Jan Marie McCormack, 56, Bismarck, ND, died Monday, September 3, 2012, at her home after a year of failing health. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 am Friday, September 7, at Eastgate Funeral Service, Bismarck, with Rev. Valerie Kinlan officiating. Burial will be in Tuttle Cemetery. There will be no visitation as cremation has taken place. Jan was born August 27, 1956, in Bismarck to John and Pearl McCormack, she was the 5th born in a family of seven children. The family relocated to Butte, MT, in 1965 where Jan attended school until her return with the family in 1974 to Max, ND, and finished her last year of high school in Max. Jan went on to graduate from Minot State College in Library Science and a Minor of Physical Education. Jan served as librarian in the Morton County Library until 1995, after which she developed her own business as a pet care specialist in Bismarck. Jan's friends, family and clients will remember her for her abiding love of pets and animals in general. Jan could be a bit of a grouch but would do anything to help friends and family and tried to save the world one stray pet at a time. Jan is survived by her mother, Pearl Hetletved, Tuttle ND; brother, John, Tuttle; brother, Dwight (Julie), Yakima, WA, and his daughter, Stephanie; sister, Joane (Bill) McLeod, and their children, Craig Marscin, Eric Marscin, Kelly Seiler and Richard (Ricky) Marscin; brother, James (Josie) and their son, Patrick; brother, Judd and his children, Joshua and Jillian; and sister Julie (Bruce) Middleton and Julie's son and daughter, Troy Oshner and Angelia Relph. Jan is also survived by numerous great-nephews and great-nieces. Jan was preceded in death by her father, John H. McCormack, November 27, 1973; and stepfather, Orvel Hetletved, March 28, 2008.
