St. Clair Shores - Janet Theresa Mackey, longtime resident of St. Clair Shores, Michigan, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 5, 2018 at the age of 82. Janet is survived by her husband of 61 years, Thomas E. Mackey, and their children Thomas J. Mackey, Kevin P. Mackey (Mary), Colleen M. Knowles (Greg), Steven A. Mackey, and Timothy J. Mackey (Sima). Janet was a proud grandmother to Jennifer (Mike), Christine, Tommy, Lia (Nick), Jamie, McKenzie, Patrick, Brett, Broderick, and Sejal; and proud great-grandmother to Grace and Logan. She is survived by her sister Patt Kirksey. Her family is comforted knowing she will be joining her predeceased loved ones including her parents James and Maida Dunnigan, her dear sisters Helen Jean Rathnow and Marie Young. Janet was retired from the Catholic Archdiocese of Detroit, having worked at St. Sylvester's Parish for years. She loved her family and friends dearly. Referred to as "Happy Janet" by those close to her, her laughter left a positive impact on the people around her, and she was always cheerful including through her final days. She loved telling stories and following all of the local sports teams. She will be deeply missed and all that knew her will enjoy memories of her for eternity. A memorial mass is scheduled for 10am on Monday, June 18th at St. Margaret of Scotland in St. Clair Shores, with a luncheon memorial at Watermark Grill St. Clair Shores afterward.
