Janet Macy Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 12, 2025.
Janet Macy, 73, passed away on April 13th, 2025, after a long illness. She was born June 17th, 1951, in Greensboro N.C., the daughter of Glen Martin Macy and Selma Rush Macy. Janet graduated from Greenwood High School (S.C.), in 1969, and from St. Andrews Presbyterian College, Laurinburg N.C., in 1973.

After graduation, Janet traveled in Europe for an extended period, following her adventurous spirit. She lived in the Boston Massachusetts area for many years, where she worked at Harvard University. She later lived in Asheville N.C., and Brunswick Maine. During the summers, she loved attending the Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, in Deer Isle Me., where she was often a pre-session volunteer. She also loved coming back to Greenwood, for her high school class reunions.

In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by her long time, special friend, Martin Annis. She is survived by her brother, Paul Macy, and Kay Herr, of Greensboro, N.C., many beloved cousins, and her very caring friends, sisters, Mandy and Melissa Annis.

A service of remembrance for Janet will be held on Tuesday, June 17th, 2025 (Janet's birthday), at 11:00 a.m. at Greenwood Memorial Gardens, Greenwood S. C. Memorial donations may be made to Haystack Mountain School of Crafts, P.O. Box 518, Deer Isle, Me. 04627.

Hey Paul. I´m just seeing Janet´s obituary. I´m so sorry. I tried to find her on Facebook but she wasn´t on there. I wish we could have reconnected. We had so much fun as kids! Take care.
