Jannea Harriman Obituary
She was born Jessie Annea Richard on Feb. 6, 1916, in Cody, Wyo.; she was the daughter of George Louis and Ina Jane (McGill) Richard.
Surviving are her son, Richard L. Harriman (Sr.) and his loving friend, Suzanne Abare; five grandchildren, Richard (Skip) L. Harriman Jr., Paul W. Harriman and wife Evette, James J. Harriman and his wife Stacy, Daniel E. Harriman and his wife Melissa and Rebecca M. Bentley and her husband Eric; also surviving are 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband, Walter Charles Harriman; and three sisters, Ruth, Zoe and Betty.
Mrs. Harriman came east around 1936 and settled in the Albany, Troy area. She enjoyed an active life in the art community and was assistant director at Cherry Hill, the historic site in Albany, N.Y. For 13 years, she was executive secretary at the Rensselaer County Council for the Arts (now the Arts Center of The Capital Region) in Troy, N.Y., and was an active member of Albany Artist Group for many years. She and her husband were the first managers of the Econo Lodge Motel in Plattsburgh until their retirement 1994. After her husband passed, she moved back to the Troy area and remained active in watercolor and edited the REACT (the Troy Citywide Tenants Association Bulletin). Mrs. Harriman also was a member of the New York Satsang Society, Inc. (Eckankar).
Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are through the Chateaugay Funeral Home.
