Jason M. Benjamin, 48, of Sloan passed away Saturday, Aug. 28, 2021, at a local hospital following a lengthy illness.
A public visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, with a prayer service at 7 p.m. with Pastor Kody Killian officiating. A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday at the church with Dr. Emery Killian officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa. Jason Michael was born Aug. 25, 1973, in Harbor Beach, Mich., the son of Richard Benjamin, Sr. and Charlene "Sherry" (Hazel) Benjamin. He grew up in Michigan and graduated from Elkton Pigeon Bay Port Lakers High School in 1991. He worked as a sales manager and in construction for various places. He enjoyed doing all kinds of carpentry.
Jason married Rebecca Farver on June 6, 1998, in Pinnebog, Mich. To this union two daughters were born, Olivia and Peyton. Jason enjoyed watching his daughters' sports events and taking care of his grand dogs. He loved to collect baseball cards, all sports cards, and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan. He was a member of the Community Church of Christ in Sloan.
He is survived by his wife, Rebecca Benjamin of Sloan; his two daughters, Olivia Benjamin of Sloan, and Peyton Benjamin of Sloan; parents, Richard Benjamin, Sr. and Sherry (Hazel) Benjamin of Sloan; one brother, Richard (Jennifer) Benjamin, Jr. of Sloan; one sister, Crystal (Patrick) Hoyt of Sloan; father-in-law, Brion Farver of Elkton, Mich.; grand dogs, Lola and Jax; and several nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother-in-law, Cindy Farver; and his grandparents.
