Jason Hoover Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 24, 2015.
Cpl. Jason Wayne Hoover, 24, beloved husband, son, grandson and brother, left this world much too soon and went home to be with Jesus on Friday, Sept. 18, 2015, in San Diego, Calif.

Jason was born to Natalie Lowe Rodriguez and Gerald Hoover on Aug. 19, 1991, in Wichita Falls. Jason attended Holliday Elementary School until moving to Arlington, where he attended Boles Junior High and graduated from Martin High School, class of 2010. Jason was involved in football at a young age, the Young Marines of Tarrant County, Martin High School Wrestling Team, and the Boy Scouts of America. Jason earned his Eagle Scout, Troop 445, in 2010. Jason never met a stranger and was always willing to give a smile and helping hand to others. After graduating from high school, Jason went on to LSU to participate in their Marine Corps ROTC program. While attending LSU, Jason met the love of his life, Shelly Obman. Jason and Shelly were married on Oct. 3, 2014. Jason brought his God-given charisma and leadership to the United States Marine Corps. Jason was the honor graduate and guide for Platoon 1002, A Company, Parris Island, S.C., and served as leader and mentor to his peers. Jason and Shelly moved on to their first duty station, Camp Pendleton, Calif. Jason served honorably within the S-6 Communications Platoon, Headquarters and Service Company, 1st Radio Battalion. While at Camp Pendleton, Jason shared his smile and laughter with those around him. Jason was a born leader who grew into his leadership role and took it to the next level. He was a hard charger and the first to volunteer and help out a friend in need. He embraced each challenge life gave him and continually outperformed his circumstances. Jason Wayne Hoover, you are as good as it gets. You made a positive impact on so many. We love you and you will be missed greatly.

Jason was preceded in death by his father, Gerald Hoover; and both paternal grandfathers.

Survivors: His wife, Shelly Hoover of Waggaman, La.; mother, Natalie Rodriguez and stepfather, Robert Rodriguez; brothers, Jeremy Hoover of Lubbock and Josh Hoover of Dallas; grandmothers, Diane Lowe of Arlington and Darlene Gilbert of Wichita Falls; great-grandmother, Ruth Thurgood of Plano; aunt, Tiffany Lowe; uncle, Matthew Lowe, both of Arlington; great-aunts and great-uncles; and more than 30 cousins.

I live in the complex that Jason, Shelly and Bruce lived in when he was stationed at Pendleton. I met Jason when he walked around the complex with his buddy Bruce. We always chatted a bit. He was a fine young man and I am beyond sad that Jason was lost to this tragedy. My heart goes out to his family and friends.
