Jean Hatfield Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Nov. 20 to Nov. 26, 2008.
JEAN A. HATFIELD, 68 BEAVER DAM, Wis. - Jean A. Hatfield, 68, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Rockford, Ill., a dear wife, mother and grandmother, was called to rest by her God on Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, in her home. Jean was the first of six children. Born July 29, 1940, to John and Amy Jo Brown in Richland Center. Married Robert Hatfield on Dec. 28, 1958, in Muscoda. Most of their married life was spent in Rockford. In 2002, Jean and Bob found the home of their dreams on the lake in Beaver Dam. Married at an early age to Robert, it was a loving union that lasted more than 50 years; "one in which 'we' grew up together." Their marriage was blessed with five children. Always willing to take on responsibility for her family and friends, Jean enjoyed her church and volunteer work, her Rockford prayer group "Wild Women," Beaver Dam faith sharing group and the occasional trip to Ho-Chunk, where she won big more than once. Her shining talent, however, was cooking and baking, and she was never happier than when preparing a delectable dinner for her loved ones. Jean loved her family with all her heart. She will be dearly missed by husband, Robert; sons, Christopher, Daniel and John (Margenia); daughters, Kelly Chavez and Teresa (Kelly Hill) Musso; and daughter-in-law, Sharon Hatfield. Known as "Nani" to her grandchildren, Rachel (Erik) Johnson, Ryan Hatfield, Renee (Eric) Cupp, Andrew, Aaron and Amy Jean Chavez, Mindy, Amanda and Bobby Hatfield, John Patrick and Justin Hatfield, Leo and Sam Musso; great-grandchildren, Erica Cupp and Evan Johnson; sisters and brother, Kathleen (Richard) Rowley, Barbara (Pat Owen) Brown, Dennis (Suzanne) Brown, Elizabeth (Peter) Edstrom; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Predeceased by parents, John and Amy Jo; brother, Michael Brown; and niece, Lisa Marie. Mass of Christian Burial at 5 p.m. Friday, Nov. 21, in St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 511 S. Spring St., in Beaver Dam, with Father John Schreiter as celebrant. Memorial gathering from 3 p.m. Friday to time of Mass, in the church. A luncheon will be held at St. Katharine Drexel Parish, 127 W. Maple Ave., in Beaver Dam after the Mass. "Thank you, Mommy, for your unconditional love and words of wisdom through the years." You are welcome to sign the family's guestbook or send private online condolences at cstonefs.com. Cornerstone Funeral and Cremation Services in Beaver Dam is honored to be serving the family.

Bob, We are saddened at the loss of Jean. You two were the best of neighbors. Halloween was the most fun at your house. Always tons of food and a cold one...or two.

Mr Hatfield and family,
You are in my prayers at this difficult time in your life. I have a lot of fond memories as a child hanging out at your house on 18th St. She was very nice to all of the neighborhood kids.
