In Loving Memory

Greenfield, MA—Jeannene Leslie Werrett Hyde, loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister, 85, passed away peacefully at her home on August 12, 2021.

Born April 23, 1936, in Salt Lake City, Utah to Leslie Rolan and Ada Hook Werrett. She grew up in Salt Lake and graduated from South High. She married T. Budge Hyde August 28, 1959 in the Salt Lake Temple. The couple first resided in Salt Lake, then moved to Cincinnati, Ohio for further education. Their eastward trek continued when they arrived in Greenfield, Massachusetts in 1972. They have lived and loved it there, raising their family and making it their home for 49 years. Jeannene and Budge's 62 year marriage is a love story for the ages. The enduring devotion they held for one another has set a beautiful example to all who know them. Born of that love were 5 children, 25 grandchildren, and 17 great grandchildren, who Jeannene loved fiercely.

Jeannene had a gentle, kindhearted soul, which made her an incredible wife and mother and an understanding and generous friend. Her warm, welcoming smile made people. feel loved, even upon first meeting her. Many fortunate friends and neighbors were the recipients of her baked goods, especially her famous Mint Stick Brownies. With a cheerful heart she lovingly prepared delicious meals for family and many guests through the years, complete with beautiful formal table settings, and stimulating conversation. As a three time cancer survivor, she taught us of resilience and courage.

Jeannene was a faithful member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints and served in various leadership capacities throughout her life, serving, lifting, and touching many hearts through her thoughtful service. She had the opportunity to travel to many different countries and had a great appreciation for their fascinating cultures.

Survived by her husband and children: Jennifer (Steve) Wunderli, Holladay, Utah; Lezlee (Denis) Longhurst, Bountiful, Utah; David (Betsey) Hyde, Temple, Maine; John Hyde, Salt Lake City, Utah, Mark (Alissa) Hyde, Kaysville, Utah; 25 grandchildren and 17 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and 2 sisters, Shirley Larsen and Joyce Healy.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Pioneer Valley Hospice, many dear friends and neighbors, and especially to Jeannene's wonderful caregiver, Barbara Rowe, who loved and cared for her as family.

Due to the ongoing pandemic, funeral services will be held privately.

The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the T. Budge and Jeannene Hyde Scholarship Fund - c/o Greenfield Community College Foundation
