Jeffrey McGuire Obituary

Jeffrey McGuire

An amazing, faithful servant to God, Jeffrey L. McGuire, lived his selfless, compassionate, and a quirky humorous life in Florence, Alabama. He loved to know how others were doing. He would figure out a way to learn other people through conversations of what was going on with them. When asked about his day, he was so full of life, that he would tell every detail of a project that he was planning, a gun he was interested in, or some type of aircraft. Jeff valued his quality time with his family, especially his two children and his loving parents. Also, Jeff had a long-term girlfriend, Pam, whom he enjoyed laughing and talking to, and sharing deep thoughts with each other. In addition to the quality time with family and friends, he enjoyed studying and learning about guns. Another hobby that he was extremely passionate about was air craft. He was a licensed commercial pilot and a certified aircraft mechanic, which he had to give up after his diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis (MS).

As mentioned above, Jeff enjoyed visiting with his two children, Madison, who he referred to as "Maddie," and Grayson McGuire. Some of Madison and Grayson's favorite memories with Jeff are bonfires at Daddy Ben and Mimi's house. During this time Jeff made sure to give a lesson of fire safety at each bonfire. Then there was the time that he taught about starting a fire out of dryer lent, because he always wanted a plan for emergencies. Also, the times spent working at "The Shop" on making personalized decorative wooden pieces and the gun safety lessons. Grayson enjoyed spending time with Jeff helping others and working on church projects.

"He taught me A LOT!" said his son, Grayson. "He tried to teach me to be safe and have a safety plan at all times."

"He taught us to always be prepared and ready for anything," said his daughter, Madison McGuire.

Jeff like to read the Bible, attend services, and be involved in maintenance projects at Killen Church of Christ where he was a member for several years. He had many conversations about God's love to his family members, because he wanted to pass on his knowledge of God to the next generation.

"He was the most considerate and selfless person that I've ever met," said his sister, Sue Ann Parker. "He always wanted to make sure everyone else was taken care of."

Jeffrey L. McGuire is survived by his two children, Grayson McGuire and Madison McGuire, and their mother, Doris Bobo; parents, Ben and Diana McGuire; his long-term girlfriend and special friend, Pam Hamner; sister, Bea Jay Nix, and her two children, Brett and Brook; and sister, Sue Ann Parker and husband, Jason Parker, and their two children, Jesse Parker and Jadyn Parker.

Visitation will be today at Greenview Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. The funeral service will be Friday, Feb. 13, 2015, at 2 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

My sincerest condolences to Jeff's Family. Jeff and I were friends growing up and even though we fell out of contact with each other over the years, I'll always remember the hours we spent riding motorcycles and roaming the hills of Stony Point!

I am so sorry to know of Jeff's battle with MS and his death. I remember fun times with Jeff in Junior High School. We seemed to always share the same lunch table. Always so nice and polite to me. Mrs. Diana I know how much you will miss him, and Sue Ann it is such a small world I had no idea Jeff was your brother. That's another great feather for your hat. if yall need anything know I am just a phone call away.
