Jerald S. Eilertson

Jerald Signor Eilertson, age 97, of Kiester, MN, died Sunday, August 23, 2020 at St. Luke's Lutheran Care Center in Blue Earth, MN. A private funeral service will be held with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. The service will be broadcast via Facebook Live on the Good Hope Parish Facebook Page on Friday, August 28, 2020 at 1:00 PM. The public is welcome to graveside services Friday, August 28, 2020 at 1:40 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church Cemetery in Kiester, MN. Military honors will be accorded by Kiester American Legion Post #454. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Our Savior's Lutheran Church or donors choice. Jerald Signor was born October 3, 1922 the son of Thomas and Julia (Jelle) Eilertson in Kiester Twp., Faribault Co., MN. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church. Jerald attended country school and graduated from Kiester High School in 1941. In August 1942, he was inducted into the Army Air Corps 74th Fighter Squadron 23rd Fighter Group. Jerald served in India and China. After the service he returned to the family farm. Jerald was united in marriage to Mardelle Quamme on February 20, 1955 and to this union four children were born, John, Paul, Kathryn and Sonja. Jerald was a loving, kind husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved to tell stories from his youth and service. Jerald enjoyed restoring his '49 Chevy. He was active in the community and church. Jerald served as a church president at the time of the merger of St. Paul Lutheran, Immanuel Lutheran Church and Zion Lutheran Church. He served on the Faribault Co. Extension Board, the Kiester Coop Elevator Board, South Central Mutual Insurance Company and the Kiester Twp., Board. Jerald enjoyed Farming of Yesteryear, reading, family genealogy and spending time with his family. In July 2018, Jerald became a resident of St. Luke's where he appreciated the staff and the music. Jerald is survived by his wife Mardelle Eilertson of Kiester, MN; children: John (Nancy) Eilertson of Kiester, MN, Paul (Rondell) Eilertson of Bricelyn, MN and Sonja Eilertson of Mankato, MN; grandchildren: Andrea (Ben) Claassen of St. Paul, MN, Michael (Taryn) Eilertson of Bricelyn, MN, Thomas Eilertson of Kiester, MN, Jared Eilertson of Kiester, MN, Ryan Eilertson of Ames, IA, Eryn Eilertson of Devil's Lake, ND, and Ethan Eilertson of Bricelyn, MN; great-grandchildren: Lindyn, Cullen and Laramie Eilertson and Jalen Claassen; sister-in-law Opal Yahnke of Sherburn, MN; along with many nieces, nephews and their families. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Kathryn Eilertson; siblings: Edward (Hermoine) Eilertson, Lamar Eilertson, Agnes (Arthur) Jacobson, Olina (Carl) Gudal, Evangeline (Gilman) Flo, Violet (Elmo) Iverson and Viola (Clair) Rye; brother-in-law Ronn Yahnke; nieces, nephews and their families.
