Jerry Parrish, FL Gene Schofield Jerry Gene Schofield was born in Freetown, IN on April 30, 1937 and passed away on March 26, 2022 in Parrish, FL. He was the son of the late William and Ethel Schofield and is predeceased by his sister Sonja Costanzi.

He attended Columbus High School and was a 1955 Indiana All-Star and a member of the 1980 Silver Anniversary Team. He is also an inductee of the Indiana Basketball Hall of Fame. He played college basketball at Indiana University and Utah State University and was the 16th draft choice of the New York Knicks in 1960.

He was a 20-year veteran of the United States Air Force and served overseas during the Vietnam War.

The most important thing in his life was his three daughters. He was the most generous, supportive, proud and loving father to all of them, and he will be severely missed. He was also an avid Tampa Bay Rays fan and enjoyed watching every game throughout each season.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Ethel Schofield and his sister Sonja Costanzi. He is survived by his daughters Jerilyn (Eric), Kamala (Barry), Tracy and his stepdaughter Cindy. He was a proud grandfather of Alycia, Cyndel and Matthew and a doting great-grandfather of Christopher, Chloe, Nina, Dylan, Jayden and Harley.

He will be buried with full military honors on March 30 at Sarasota National Cemetery.

I miss you more and more everyday Papa. It feels unreal that you are no longer an hour up the highway. Mom's getting better with time; there were a few instances where we were all worried for her, but she's doing better now. We all miss you dearly. Love you so much Papa.
