Jesse Perales Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Nov. 19, 2017.
Jesse M. Perales, loving father and widower, entered heaven November 19, 2017. He was born in Luling, Texas on February 5, 1935 to Sarah Moreno Perales Sanchez and Domingo Perales, Sr. Jesse attended Marble Falls High School. Jesse married the love of his life, Phyllis Garza, on December 25, 1954. They were married for 62 years. His early work experience as a cabinet maker began at Davidson, Sash and Door and Calcasieu Lumber Company. He left Calcasieu as a foreman to strike out on his own in 1972 to open his own custom cabinet business, the Perales Cabinet Shop where he became a master craftsman. He designed and built custom cabinets for over 45 years. Jesse also served in the Texas Army National Guard for 9 years. He participated in the activation of Fort Polk, Louisiana. As a guardsman, he also assisted in the evacuation of flood victims during Hurricane Carla. Jesse had many interests, one being music. He performed with the Nash Hernandez Orchestra playing saxophone. He also enjoyed fishing with his children and grandchildren. His family will cherish the times spent watching the Dallas Cowboys and the Texas Longhorn football games with him. Napping while "watching" golf on television was one of his committed past times. Jesse's greatest joy was his family. He enjoyed going to church with his family and grandchildren. He supported Phyllis in her participation at church events and found peace with their joint love of God and faith. He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Phyllis Garza Perales and his son, Mitchell Rene Perales. Jesse is survived by his daughters, Bonnie Perales Manchester (Lloyd Manchester), Dianna Perales Harris (Earnest Harris), Anita Perales Reesman, and Amy Perales Acuña (David Acuña); his eight grandchildren, Jennifer Vasquez, Marisa Perales Carlin, Chris Manchester, William Luke Reesman, Lawrence Harris, Maria Harris, Evan Acuña and Aidan Acuña, and five great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm, Friday, November 24th at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 2620 South Congress Ave. Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, November 25, 2017 at San Jose Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Assumption Cemetery.

I just found out about Jesse's passing this morning. Jesse worked with me on a project in 2015 and he was joy to work with and his work was beautiful. I wish I'd known he'd gotten his start at Calcasieu - I feel sure we knew people in common. He certainly has left a lovely legacy of love, hard work and devotion for his children. He will be missed.

Our heartfelt prayers go out to Jesse's entire family. I remember and treasure the times we spent playing and enjoying many musical events.
