Jimmie Ruth Whetsel Bounds

Largo, FL - Jimmie Ruth Whetsel Bounds, Age 93, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, in Largo, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents; Dwight and Ada Ruth Whetsel; her sister, Juanita, and brother Ray Whetsel. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, H. Dean Bounds, daughter Kimberly Deane (John) Vessa, sister-in-law Wanda Sue Whetsel, nephews Mike (Mary Ruth) Whetsel and Jimmy (Deanne) Whetsel, and many grand nieces and nephews. Jimmie enjoyed traveling around the world and especially cruising, as well as shopping and working puzzles with her husband Dean. She and Dean spent 25 years traveling to Florida in the winter (snowbirds) before making Florida their permanent home for the last 11 years. She was a member of Beaver Creek Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She will be forever loved and missed. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 30, 2025 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm at Mayes Mortuary in Morristown, TN. A graveside service will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Knoxville, TN on Thursday, July 31, 2025 at 11:00 am with Rev. Dr. Thomas Sweet officiating. Jimmie loved buying toys for children at Christmas, and supported a number of children's charities. The family kindly requests that all donations be sent to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Shriners Children's in lieu of flowers.
