My wife and I had the pleasure of first seeing Jimmy at a 1999 outside festival in New Jersey along with our then seven month old twins. Later, we had the pleasure of him conducting a sing along to This Land is Your land at the Annual Texas book festival in Austin, Texas, as well as seeing him at another another New Jersey show at Monmouth University. As a bit of a Bob Dylan fan, Jimmy was one of the few singers who could make those songs his own. A great talent, and a sad loss. But, the memories and the music live on. Not to be forgotten

From dancing at the Hole in the Wall the first time I heard him, to sitting on a tailgate with him at a campfire in Kerrville trying to convince him to play, to the time he and Barbara very kindly gave me a ride from the Cactus Cafe one late night, I have many wonderful memories of Jimmy and I am so very, very sorry to hear of his passing.

Jimmy...You jumped the gun, and went on ahead of us. I wish there was a restart, but we don't get any re-do's in this brief time we have. Thank you for doing it ( your music ) you sung with passion and heart. I believe that you believed there's no other way to sing. I also believe you would tell us to " get over it and get on with it " to keep making music of course.

Peace, love, health and clarity for your friends and family.......Semper Fi

Jimmy was born in my hometown of Wills Point and, tho he lived many places, he never forgot that same small town that dwells in most of us.

It's difficult to explain how a person's voice gets inside your soul and makes you LISTEN; Jimmy did that for many of us. Its as if he said what we all wanted to, what we felt, what we hoped...i will remember him always.

On the way to work today, sunradio played Jimmy's version of Dylan's "Glorious Day". Oh, what a glorious day it must have been when Jimmy walked thru those pearly gates!
