Joan Stewart Goebel, 89, passed away surrounded by family members on February 10, 2018 at the Silverado Memory Care Community in Southlake, TX. She was born in Brooklyn, NY on November 14, 1928 to Charles and Florence (Lynch) Stewart. Joan was a graduate of Oak Knoll School for the Holy Child and St. John's University. She married James J. Goebel, Jr. in 1952 and celebrated fifty years of marriage before his passing. Joan loved spending time with family and friends, golfing, quilting, playing bridge, and traveling the world. Joan and Jim raised their children in Woodcliff Lake, NJ before relocating to Conroe, TX in 1977.

Joan was preceded in death by her husband, parents and several siblings. Joan is survived by all seven of her children: Stephen (Victoria) Goebel, James (Doreen) Goebel, Charles Paul Goebel, William (Martha) Goebel, Thomas (Melissa) Goebel, Jean (Norman) Holden, and Paul Goebel; brother Eugene (Adena) Stewart of Los Angeles, CA; ten grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and many friends.

A Celebration Of Life service will be held at 10:30A on Saturday, May 26, 2018, at First United Methodist Church in Grapevine, TX. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to Alzheimer's and dementia research through the Alzheimer's Association (act.alz.org).
