I was sorry to hear of Joan's passing. I worked in the Aero Lab at NRC since 1968 and remember Joan very well, first in the Aero library, then later in CISTI and finally in the Alta Vista branch of the Ottawa Public Library. She was always so pleasant and helpful, especially since she often had to deal with my numerous last minute requests, too often at the end of a day. She did so with with enthusiasm, dispatch, and in the nicest way possible. You must really miss her.

Dear Anne
I only learned this week of your Mom's sudden passing when I read the latest issue of the U of T Faculty of Information (formerly Library School)'s publication. I shared a house with Joan when she came back to Ottawa from Library School, and worked with your Dad at Aero Library for many years. They were great folks and both died much too young. Rick joins with me in expressing our deepest condolences to you and your family.

TO Joan's family,
My name is Stefan Petrescu. I am 32 years old. I just read my workplace email. I have worked with Joan, maybe only a few times at the Rideau library. I told her that I was living in an apartment building and she told me that she was interested in a move. Wow, this is a sad surprise. Joan seemed like a very nice lady.
with sympathy,

To Joan's family,
Along with many from NRC, Joan will be remembered and serve as a model for how colleagues work with each other and go out of their way to help beyond the short answer. Her enthusiasm and welcoming smile will always be in my memory.

Dear Anne and Family:
We are saddened by the loss of Joan. She has been a member of Canadian Women Golfers Inc. (CWGI) for the last three years. She was a kind and generous women who greatly enjoyed getting out to play golf. She particularly enjoyed our day excursions to courses outside the area where we had a great time golfing and dining before returning to Ottawa.
Please accept the sympathies of many of the over 500 members of our league that played golf with Joan.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Robinson

I worked for many years with Joan at NRC and it was a pleasure. She was always cheerful, a great team player and a good friend. After retirement we saw each other less frequently - we both seemed busier *smile*. I feel very grateful that I had a chance to have a visit with her just in December. I'm among many who will miss Joan a great deal now.

Miggie and Anne,
My deepest feelings of sympathy go out to you at this time. It is hard to think of the future without Joannie. She was such an asset to friends---warm, caring, steadfast and fun. I knew her in elementary school, YPU, 16 Island Lake and we kept in touch through her marriage to her beloved Ralph, her proud motherhood with Anne and of course shared in her joy with Jonathan's arrival. My life has been enriched by sharing the path of life with her. Your loss is great. I will treasure her memory.

To Miggie and to Joan's family:
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time of loss. We recall Joan's winning smile and gentle nature -- in YPU in Montreal, at 16 Island Lake and playing bridge with Ralph and Joan when we lived in Ottawa in the '70's. How sad to recall the last time we saw Joan was at Dorrie's furneral just two years ago!

I
have fine memories of Joan over many years in the Aero Library at the
NRC. More recently, I had seen her in the Alta Vista library branch,
near where I live. It is sad to hear of the too early death of such a
nice lady.

Dear Anne,
I am deeply saddened to learn of your Mom's sudden passing.
I have many fond memories of our time together at CISTI's Parkin Branch.
Your Mom always went the extra mile for her library clients and was held in high regard by all who worked in the NRC's National Aeronautical Establishment and Division of Mechanical Engineering on the Montreal Rd campus.
She a big heart and a cheery smile that will be sorely missed.
My deepest sympathies go out to you, Marko and little Jonathon.
