Joan "Jody" Lott

October 21, 1930 - June 17, 2023 Born October 21, 1930, in Somerton, AZ to John and Eva Pool, Johnnie Joan Lott, "Jody", attended Somerton Grammar School and graduated from Yuma High School. In August of 1950, she married David Lott of Gadsden, AZ. While Jody grew up an only child, by marrying into the Lott family she found four sisters in her in-laws, Genevieve, Louise (Weesie), Polly, and Caroline (Liney), along with countless cousins with whom she would share close, lifelong bonds and many grand adventures both at home and abroad.

In the subsequent years, Davey and Jody built a home and raised a family on the Lott homestead in Gadsden, with Davey running the farm and Jody overseeing the household. Jody's free time was spent bowling, golfing, playing bridge, and being a gracious and welcoming hostess to anyone who may want to drop in for a chat or lunch.

After Davey's passing Jody moved to town where she spent her time surrounded by friends and family. A fixture at the Yuma Country Club, Jody was the life of the party and maintained an active social schedule; she could always be counted on for her evening happy hours on her porch and a hearty wave to all the golfers on the 9th green.

Jody passed away in her home on June 17, 2023, surrounded by her daughters. She is survived by her daughters Lindy (Ken) Lott-LeRoy, Laurie Lott, Lisa Lott, Caroline "Lekki" (Mark) Smith, her grandchildren Jack Smith, Kyle (Alana) Smith, Eric (Britney) Smith, Kelly (Jeff) Smith, Katie LeRoy, and her great-grandchildren Ava, Madison, Davey, Gracie, Winnie, Capri, and Lott. She was preceded in rest by her parents, John and Eva Pool, her husband, Davey Lott, and her granddaughters Caroline Ammons, Sarah Novick, and Polly Smith.

A celebration of life will be held in October, with more information to come. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice of Yuma or Assistance League of Yuma.
