Joan Pairada passed away peacefully on September 5, 2024, at the age of 83 in Parkland, FL. Born on July 7, 1941, in Miami, FL, Joan dedicated her life to education and community service, touching many lives with her compassion and resilience.

Joan graduated from Miami Senior High School in 1959 and furthered her education at the University of Miami, followed by a Master's Degree in Education from Barry University. She spent 30 years teaching in the Dade County School System, where she was revered for her ability to connect with and transform the lives of at-risk students. Joan's exceptional commitment to teaching was recognized multiple times with the Teacher of the Year award. Even after retiring in 1993 to care for her ailing parents, her legacy in education continued to resonate through the countless students she influenced.

Beyond her professional life, Joan was known for her love of reading, shopping, and meticulous gift wrapping. She had a keen interest in makeup and took great pride in her appearance. Joan's warmth extended into her personal life, where she was a beloved family member and friend.

Joan was predeceased by her parents, Sonia and John Pairada. She is survived by her cousin and caretaker, Sharon Stowe Smith, cousins Susan Stowe and Steve Surowiecki, all of Florida, and her second cousin, Sebastian Smith of Tokyo, Japan.

The family would like to thank the staff at Allegro of Parkland for their committed care and love shown for Joan for the past three years. She loved her home there and always felt like she was among family.

A Celebration of Life will be held on September 15, 2024, at 3 PM at the home of her cousin, Sharon, located at 4917 NW 119 Terrace, Coral Springs. The Wilcox Family Funeral Home in Miramar, FL, is assisting the family during this time.

In lieu of flowers, contributions in Joan's memory can be made to The Salvation Army, honoring her spirit of giving and community support. Joan's life was a testament to the power of education and the enduring impact of caring for others. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
