She enjoyed teaching Bible study
CRYSTAL LAKE - Joan M. Piekos, 75, of Crystal Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2007.
She was born Nov. 23, 1931, in Chicago, to Walter and Myrtle (Cooper) Grever.
She worked for Illinois Bell for nearly 30 years as a switchboard operator.
She also enjoyed teaching Bible study at Redeemer Lutheran Church.
She was the loving, giving mother of Randy (Monica) Cotner and Tom (Sue) Cotner; loving grandmother of six; and sister of Walter (Vicky) Grever and Judy (Richard) Bramel.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, Fred Thomas Cotner and Adolf Piekos.
The memorial service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1320 Dean St., Woodstock.
Interment will be private.

This is Greg Perdue; I was good friends with Randy and Tom back in the 70's, and remember Mrs. Cotner quite well. Randy and Tom, sorry about your mother. Randy, remember when you used to bribe me to go with you on your paper route? If I balked, you would entice me with your mothers unbelievably good chocolate fudge cup cakes. Sometimes it would take two of your mother's cupcakes, plus a taco and coke from Coachlight. Those were great days, and your Mom was so nice when I would sleep over. My thoughts and prayers are with you, and I hope the cherished memories of your Mother will sustain you when you miss her most.
