Joan Rizzi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Jun. 23, 2018.
Mrs. Joan Rizzi passed away peacefully June 20 at Dunmore Skilled Nursing Center.

Born in Scranton, to the late Joseph Baranoski and Susan Blados Baranoski, she was a 1955 graduate of Scranton Catholic High School and a member of the Queen of the Apostles Church, Avoca.

Joan was an artistic and creative soul as well as an avid reader. She loved spending time with her grandchildren and would continuously dream up new arts and crafts projects to inspire them.

Prior to her retirement, she worked for many years in the garment industry and, most recently, as a clerk at Big Lots in Moosic.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, William Rizzi, of Scranton; and brother, John Baranoski.

She is survived by two sons and two daughters, William J. Rizzi, of Scranton, and Kenneth Rizzi, husband to Cindy, of Lake Ariel; as well as Renee Cabets, wife to Joseph, of Throop; and Christine Dommes, of Factoryville, wife to Mark, of Moosic.

Joan leaves behind seven grandchildren, Kyle Rizzi, Kelly Cabets, Kenny Rizzi, Billy Rizzi, Ashley Rizzi, Samantha Dommes and Nathan Dommes, as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on July 2 at 10 a.m. in Queen of the Apostles Church, Hawthorne Street, Avoca. Interment will follow in the parish cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the John F. Glinsky Funeral Home, Throop.

Bill, Kenny, Renee and Chrissy (and extended families)... I wish to extend my deepest sympathy to everyone who loved Aunt Joanie. Although I really haven't seen my Aunt Joanie much in recent years, I can still recall how she always made me feel loved. I spent a lot of time with her as a young child and I still remember the smell of her kitchen. And, I love her. ❤ She made some good Polish Chrusciki cookies and whenever I see them, I think of her and remember........... I remember her playing cards with the family on our outings at Lake Sheridan..I remember her well and always will.Sending much love and ((HUGS)) to my cousins at this sad time.

Lots of great memories we shared over the holidays with the family, especially at Grandma B's, always an adventure! You will be missed but the memories will always live on, lots of photo's safely tucked away. Love your daughter-in-law Cindy
