JoAnn Laster Obituary
Chattanooga/Knoxville - JoAnn Tucker Laster, of Chattanooga/Knoxville, passed away on Monday, December 21, 2020 at Erlanger Hospital in Chattanooga TN. She was born August 23, 1951 in Knoxville, TN to the late Jodie Thomas Tucker and Cora Mae Tucker. She was preceded in death by Jodie Thomas Tucker, Sister Patricia Tucker, Doris Parker, Brother, Melvin Tucker.
She leaves to cherish her memory, Daughter, Hope Michelle Laster, Mother, Cora Mae Tucker, Brothers, Micheal Parker, Thomas(Tawana) Tucker, Knoxville, TN; Sisters, Gwen-Chaney-Miller, Charlotte Fletcher, Knoxville, TN, Shelia (Larry) Blakely, Hattiesburg, MS and Debra Parker, Savannah, GA, a host of many nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews cousins, and many devoted friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 27, 2020 from 1:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. with the Celebration of Life Service to begin at 2:00 p.m at the Unity Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Willie Paul of the New Horizon Baptist Church in Chattanooga, TN officiating. The final resting place will be at Mt. Olive Cemetery immediately following the Celebration. Mrs. Laster will lie-in-repose on Saturday, December 26, 2020 from 1:00p.m.-5:00 p.m. at the Unity Mortuary Chapel. Due to the Covid-19 mandatory guidelines, the family respectfully asks that masks be worn and social distancing be practiced. Unity Mortuary is honored to serve the Laster, Tucker, Miller families.

I´m in disbelief that Mrs lasted is no longer with us! It wasn´t one day that she wasn´t a joy at Howard high school. I remember my senior year when she printed my transcript for me she caught that I had passed two classes they never gave me credits for... Mrs. Laster didn´t play about us students either she flew into the system and corrected it herself on the spot. I remember her telling me that they wasn´t going to short change me like that LOL...she came across my heart and I looked her up to find she. Is with God...rest peacefully

When I looked into my School email I could not Believe what I was reading about the loss of Ms. Laster my Friend that I Loved Dearly, whom I worked with for over 20 years at Howard School and met years before that at Orchard Knob Elementary. She was one of the Sweetest, Kindest Person that brought so much joy when she came in the room. She was so Fun and loving and She Loved the Lord! There are so many good memories and I am so Thankful that I was Blessed for her to come into my path. I will never ever forget this Precious Sweetheart. My prayers are with Her Daughter Hope and Family.

I was so surprised to learn of Joann's homecoming. I enjoyed sitting by her at Orchard Knob Missionary Baptist Church or talking at the grocery store. She was such a kind person and a loving mother. Hope, please know that I am keeping you in my prayers.

Mrs. Laster was so sweet and never meet a stranger always helped me and my 2 kids that came threw her help. She will truly be missed with that big pretty smile. I will always remember her. If i needed Girl Scout cookies she always would have my kind and now that she is gone i dont want to buy from no one else. Mrs. Laster rest peacefully in the arms of Jesus.
