Joanne Constance Carignan, 80, of Chelmsford, MA died Friday March 24, 2023 at

the Atrium surrounded by her loving family.

She was married to Robert Carignan with whom she would have celebrated their

55th wedding anniversary on June 22nd.

Born in Lowell, MA she was the daughter of the late James and Constance (Perivolotis) Liakos.

She graduated from Lowell High School and Lowell State College with a B.A. in Elementary Education. She retired from Merrimack Educational Collaborative and

previously worked in Chelmsford and Tewksbury Public Schools.

Joanne was an avid reader and could always be found on her porch with a book.

Her passion was for cooking and her recipes will live on through the cookbook she created for her neices and nephews.

Gardening was another passion of Joanne's. She was always happy with her hands in the dirt, working in her flower garden.

Besides her husband, Joanne is survived by her son Jeffrey Carignan of Salem, MA and his significant other, Patricia Buntel; her daughter Michelle Carignan and her husband David Ward of Stow, MA and their children Luke and Jackson; her brothers Thomas Liakos and his wife, Lorraine and Arthur Liakos and his wife Winnie, both of Chelmsford, MA. She was the sister of the late Katherine Sakelaris. Joanne will also be missed by her many loving neices and nephews.

Services will be private by Joanne's request.
