JEFFERSON, Joanne Tyler Riddle Born October 23, 1931, Joanne Tyler Riddle attended Los Angeles High School. She received a B.A. in Political Science/International Law, Spanish minor from UCLA in 1953 and was also an Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority member. The daughter of the late John Sr. and Helen Riddle, Joanne began her career working for the Los Angeles Police Department. An extraordinarily fast and accurate typist, she served as legal secretary and office manager for prominent attorneys in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills. She also owned and operated a successful legal secretarial consulting firm that bore her name. In addition to her work as a legal secretary, Joanne also worked as a mental health paraprofessional after earning her degree in Mental Health Counseling from USC. Joanne passed January 13, 2008. She is warmly remembered and survived by her daughter Charmaine Jefferson-Johnson, son Gary E. Jefferson, grand daughter Kelsey Johnson, brother Paul Riddle, sister Judith R. Kealing, aunt Susie Johnson, son-in-law Garrett M. Johnson, sister-in-law Sherri Riddle, and many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. A celebration of Joanne's life will be held Saturday, February 16, 2008 from 2-5 p.m. at the Wilfandel Club, 3425 West Adams Blvd., Los Angeles, CA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Joanne's memory to the California African American Museum or the Dance Theatre of Harlem.
