Joe Billy Gantt

Joe Billy Gantt, age 79 of Brown Rd. died Sunday, October 4, 2015 at his residence. He was born on March 22, 1936 in Lincoln County to the late Buster Lloyd and Cora Lavenia "Vennie" Rhyne Gantt. Joe retired from Carolina Freight after 31 years of service. He was an active member of North Brook Baptist Church. Joe enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and serving in his church. He was also a skilled carpenter. He cherished the times spent with his family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Jan Buff and Jean Allen. Survivors include his wife, Jean Lackey Gantt; three daughters, Anita and Carl Bridges, Juana Gantt and Randy Scribner, and Cindy and Mark Powell; grandchildren, Lindsey Bridges, Joseph Bridges, Sadie Gantt, Heather Weiss, and Ben Powell; great grandchildren, Joecey Bridges and Jordan Chapman; man's best friend, Buddy; extended family, Keith Buff and Shasta Johnson and family; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at 4:00 PM at North Brook Baptist Church with Rev. Robert Wise and Rev. Wade Dellinger officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Wednesday from 2:30 to 3:45 PM prior to the service at the church.
