This note goes to Joey, as I am certain that we will all meet again.
My earliest memories of you and Jon date back to the 60's at Black Jr. High. Through mutual friends we all became friends together and we had a common thread...our Dads were both Houston Cops! We had a different upbring than anyone else as you know. We had plenty of great times over all of our school years. You raised an admirable family and that is something to be proud of in this world. My best memory of you was when you came to visit me 15 years ago after I had cancer removed. I will never forget that, it meant a lot to me. My last memory of you was at this years '73 reuion golf tournament. I had not seen you for many years, but it was like we hadn't missed a "lick". You treat people as if there was no lost time. So, till we meet again and pick up where we left off, God Bless You, Joel,. Keep 'em laughing till I get there.

Joel played accompaniment on his 12string guitar for my daughter Lauren and I as we sang the "old rugged cross "at a church service several years ago. His playing made that song sound so sweet . I wish I could hear it just once more.

Joel was man of conviction and leadership. He was strong in his beliefs and dedicated to his responsibilities. He was officially our "Team Lead" here at Shell, but we all called him nicknames like "Trainer", "Boss Man", and my personal favorite "Chieeeeeeeef", which we all used to yell across the lab. We miss you already, Chief. I feel blessed to have known you.

May you find comfort in the knowledge that one more Star shines a little brighter, that the Angels songs are a little sweeter, and may you find Peace when the hand of your loved one was embraced by the warmth of God's. I remember the good times we had in our younger years attending VBS and Luther League with Joel at Advent Lutheran. He was an amazing guy! Loved by ALL.

Certain people leave a big impact on your life without even meaning to. I wouldn't be the person I am today without the four years I spent playing the piano under Joel Paulk's wing. Some of my fondest memories have been on that St. Stephen's altar playing with Joey, and celebrating the songs that we nailed head on……and laughing about the ones that clearly needed a bit more practice. Even though I was 14 years old when I joined the group and green as could be in the way of public performance, Joel made me feel significant and needed, all the while teaching me how to be a better musician and, through his actions and the example he set, a better man. I am blessed to have had him as a mentor and a friend, and I will most certainly miss him. Rest in peace Joel. My prayers go out to the Paulk/Hensley family. If there is anything I can do, please do not hesitate to ask. God bless.

Brenda, Jon & family - The Bruhn family & April Elsenbrook were so sorry to hear of this tremendous loss. Joel (Joey) has been a part of our family for most of our lives, and a part of April's for the past few years as (Joel Man). Brenda, you will never know how much the past years, especially the ones in which we traveled together, meant to me. Joey was so special, and I cherished the times we spent on deck in the early mornings. That is when I really got to know him, and those specials times were truly precious to me. My brother Ken and I grew up having way too much fun with Joel and Jon in the 70's...As with many childhood friendships, we lost track to some degree and went about life...I'm so happy to have reconnected with Joey and Jon for a reunion golf tournament last year and then a live music event a few months back...Joel was the same good man, the same fun loving guy that I will always remember from our youth...God Bless you Joel, and thanks for the laughs...You will be missed by many.

Some are family by birth, some are family by choice, some are family by God. When your gift is music, you have the ability to leave a song on someone's mind and in their heart. Joel had that gift. He life was neither flat nor sharp, but in tune. I think of countless "Golf House" remarks I might make right about now, but none seem funny anymore.
Your memory will be a busy one my friend. We have been friends for almost 2 decades. You had such balance; scouts, choir, dad, grand-dad, husband, brother, party buddy at the Golf House, real golf, you could drink the "cold and flu" and buy them too, you could drive in a flood, set new records in the "Dot" machine", laugh at a good joke, deliver a good joke, make sounds that sounded like sentences, offer a pat on the back at the right time, and leave without a sound, country and western dance a bit and made each friend think they where your best friend.
You will never be forgotten, you will be missed is an understatement, so... See you in eternity my friend. I expect a Golden Tee in heaven. The Colonel.
