John....Donna wrote this poem for your 89th - March 10, 2017
My first birthday in heaven, how I wish you could see
The celestial angels who are singing to me!
I know how you wanted me with you this day,
But Jesus was calling and I couldn't stay.
You faithfully loved me, of that I am sure,
And I'll have that gift with me forevermore.
When I stepped into glory, I dropped every weight,
For there's nothing but joy on this side of the gate.
Today on my birthday you'll honor me best,
Remembering the good and discarding the rest.
No love is proven unless it's been tried,
And I left in sweet peace holding hands with my bride.
The one gift I ask, only you can bestow,
That each memory of us bring a warm afterglow;
That soon sunshine breaks through the sorrowing gray,
For you know in your heart, how I want it that way.
I miss "us" so much it hurts. Winnipeg 1997
