John was a good friend and I always enjoyed talking with him about a variety of subjects, which in almost every instance boiled down to religion and Notre Dame football (he always carried a rosary in his pocket and recited it daily). John befriended me years ago when he didn't have to, and I never forgot that. Geneva's lost a great guy and I will miss him. My condolences to the family.
