To the Devine family,

I'm sorry to hear about your father. I first met Mr. Devine when I started with the NYS DVA in 1984. I was sorry to see him retire just a couple years later because he was a man I knew I could learn a from. I was happy I got to see him again this past May. They don't make them like Mr. Devine any more, he was an original and a good man.

To the entire Devine family:

Your Dad will be sorely missed, he was a wonderful man to work with and a great neighbor. He treated all of us that worked for or with him as his family, my youngest daughter Michelle picked he and your mother as surrogate grandparents. Everytime I had to drop something off for your Dad, I would have to stop home first and get Michelle so she could deliver it. What else can I say - he was the finest!!!

My sincerest sympathy is offered to the entire Devine Family! You have lost a wonderful father, grandfather, great grandfather.

I am still grateful for my years of working for him. He was like a father and will be missed greatly.

My family greatly enjoyed spending a bit of time with him in May. He was such a wonderful person.

May God grant you His comfort during this time of great loss.

To the Devine Family,

My sympathy to all of you. As in My brother's earlier entry, I hope it is as comforting to you as it is to us to know that such a wonderful core group of friends are once again united. As my family and I have been going through pictures the past few days, we have found a few of your dad and my dad together, it is so vividly clear, by their laughter they were always having a wonderful time. God Bless and we will all be praying for you.

I read with great sorrow of John's passing. My sincere condolence to his children and family. I had the great pleasure of working with John for the last 8 years of his long career in the Div. of Veteran's Affairs, as I did many years earlier with his father in the Comptroller's Office.
