John Durgin Obituary

CANTON - Services for John E. "Johnny" Durgin, 55, Canton, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton, with Brothers Larry Page and Dennis Bozell officiating.

Burial will be in Haven of Memories Memorial Park.

Mr. Durgin died June 9, 2007, in Wichita Falls. He was born Dec. 20, 1951, in Dallas to Elwood George and Veda J. Springer Durgin. He graduated from Canton High School in 1970 and earned a B.A. degree from East Texas State University. He served as Van Zandt County commissioner, Precinct 2, in 1999 and had worked for Farm Bureau before opening Durgin Farm & Fertilizer. He served on the Canton School Board and board of directors of Canton Farm Bureau, where he was president for several years. He was a member of Texas Water Development Board Regional Water Planning Group D, and Big Rock Church of Christ.

Survivors include his wife, Felicia Durgin, Canton; sons, John Christopher Durgin, Canton, Joey Brandon Durgin, Conroe, and Jordan Lee Durgin, Pleasanton; stepchildren, Renee Annette Brietzke, New Braunfels, Clif Arden Royal, Pleasanton, and Bret Eric Royal, San Antonio; mother, Veda J. Durgin, Canton; brother, Joe Durgin, Canton; sister, Joyce J. Gercak, Hallsville; four grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; nieces and nephew.

Pallbearers are Keith Tucker, Rodney Johnson, Winston Douthit, Kyle Bryant, Kyle Wilburn and Kent Eubank. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Eubank Funeral Home, Canton.
