John Ebner Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 19, 2017.
John "Johny" Charles Ebner, 88, was called home to our Lord Friday, March 17, 2017, at the Nacogdoches Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. Johny was born December 22, 1928, to John and Hazel Ebner in Wichita Falls, the oldest of 3 children. He leaves his beloved wife of 34 years, Charlene Ebner; his son, Gary Ebner and his wife Carol; his daughter, Sally Kincaid and her husband Mike; his son John Mark Ebner; his stepdaughter Robin Rigsby and her husband Charlie; his stepson Greg Patterson and his wife Cindy. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren as well as many close friends. He was preceded by a two brothers, Frank and Steve. Johny was born and raised in Wichita Falls but spent most of his years in the North Dallas area. In his early years, Johny worked for the family's business, Ebner Brothers Packers. He worked closely with his dad and two brothers Frank and Steve. He became well known for his ability to not only make German sausage but to also speak German. After graduating from Wichita Falls High School in 1947 he attended Texas A&M University studying animal husbandry. He met his soulmate, Charlene "CC" Ebner, at church in Dallas and were soon married in 1982. Johny had a passion for people and never met a stranger. He and Charlene both were longtime members at Denton Bible Church, both served regularly as greeters. They hosted a small group at their Aubry home for over a decade. These close friends were prayer warriors for both Johny and Charlene when he was diagnosed with Parkinson's and Dementia. One of his many talents was that of speaking and writing. He loved to tell stories and knew how to make everyone feel welcome especially to their home. His artistic talent could be seen by the sign he designed showcased at the entrance to their Aubry ranch which read "Willkommen Ebner Hause." This genuine spirit came from his relationship with Christ and living by God's word. His greatest accomplishment was accepting the free gift that Jesus Christ gave, becoming a child of God through his faith. Through his life and even his death, Johny wanted to glorify his maker and build the Kingdom of God.Johny and Charlene had just recently moved to Nacogdoches to be closer to family. Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 19, 2017, at First Christian Church, 702 North Mound Street in Nacogdoches, with Pastor Charlie Colgan officiating. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 20, 2017, at Grove Hill Memorial Park, 3920 Samuel Blvd. in Dallas. Online condolences may be left at www.casonmonk-metcalf.com. Sad to hear that Johnny is no longer greeting at Denton Bible, but so glad to know who greeted him and welcomed him to his Heavenly home. Blessings to you Charlene as you lean on our Savior for comfort

What a privilege to have known John and Charlene through our church where we met and served. He and Charlene were in our Aubrey Prayer Group for many years and pot luck dinners always had a request for John's Homemade Bread Pudding. We will miss him and know he enjoys being "home" with his Lord and Savior. Leon and Nancy McMinn
