John Francis Harkins

John Francis Harkins went home to be with the Lord on Saturday December 18, 2021. He was 87 years old. Born on April 8, 1934 in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Leo and Sarah Harkins. John graduated from Dobbins High School, was a master plumber, and the president of Harkins Mechanical for over 25 years, a business he started in the basement of his home in Southwest Philadelphia. He also ran a very successful sporting ticket broker agency in Philadelphia which complimented his die-hard passion for the Eagles, Phillies, and for bartering. He was a devoted Catholic and a member of over 60 years at the Men of Malvern retreat house, Epiphany Group. He made significant contributions to the Church and Men of Malvern Retreat House with his time, leadership, and financial support. John was the devoted spouse of 5 years to Diane, the devoted spouse for 56 years to the late Patricia Harkins, father of Mary Jo Siegfried, John F. Harkins II, David J. (Andrea) Harkins, and Trish (Rick) Michell. He was the loving grandfather of 10 grand-children, brother to Sara Smith, the late Dolores McGrady, and is survived by many nieces and nephews. Relatives and friends are invited to John's Life Celebration on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 from 10:30-11:30 am at SS. Simon and Jude Church, 8 Cavanaugh Court, West Chester, PA 19382, followed immediately by his Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30am. Entombment at SS. Peter and Paul Garden Mausoleum. Family services entrusted under the care of John F. Givnish Funeral Home, Philadelphia.
