John Hirstein Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 11, 2005.

JOHN HIRSTEIN John passed away on March 8, 2005. He wasborn in Sanger, CA on July 9, 1921. He was preceded in death by Doris Mary Hirstein, his wife of 58 years, who passed away on January 31, 2002. During WWII, John was a U.S. paratrooper in the 82nd Airborn and became a POW soon after landing in Normandy on D-day. After leaving the Army, John worked for many years at the Fresno Bag Co., and then worked for several years in Friant for the Bureau of Reclamation. John is survived by his sister, Minnie Faccinto of Sanger; and four sons, TJ of Hayward, CA, and Dave, Nick and John W., all of Fresno, CA. John's family would like to express their appreciation to all of John's friends at the Fresno VA Medical Center and at the Ashlan Park shopping center for all of their kindnesses and companionship to John over the years. We would also like to express our gratitude to John's friends in the U.S. Postal Service, especially to his (and Doris') long-time friend and mail carrier Teresa, and her family. At John's request, there will be no public funeral service.
