John J. (Jack) McCarthy of West Medford, MA, formerly of Charlestown, MA passed away peacefully on July 28, 2025, at the age of 90. He was the only child born to Lucy and John McCarthy. He was the beloved husband (25 years) of the late Margaret (Burchill) McCarthy and beloved husband (25 years) of the late Nancy McCarthy. Devoted father of Maureen Schiavone and her husband, Michael Schiavone of Holbrook, Kathleen Petrie and her husband Marty Petrie of Stoughton, and Timothy McCarthy of Waltham. Loving grandfather of Matthew Schiavone and his wife Ashley Schiavone of North Reading, Marty, Erin and Shannon Petrie, and Hannah McCarthy. He is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, relatives and

friends.

John was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1957 and spent the next two years in Germany. He was an avid Red Sox fan and enjoyed going to Bruins games for which he had season tickets! John was a Hood milkman and loved catching up with all his customers. He was most proud of his 30 years in the U.S. Postal Service.

Visitation will be held at St. Raphael Church, 512 High St., Medford, Tuesday, August 5, 2025, from 10 to 11 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Services will conclude with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Medford.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. To
